Wilsons fame was surpassed by the U.S. in 2014, when she landed a role as a character on Showtimes The Affair. In the show, Wilson performed the role of Alison Lockhart who is a young troubled woman who comes from a rough background. Lockhart has a crush on an unmarried Noah Solloway. Wilson was honored with a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress of a Television Series in Drama 2015 alongside Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson stated to British Vogue, "I loved playing an actor who could be two sides to the tale." Noah sees Alison in this confident reckless sexually attractive version of her. However, she perceives herself differently she sees herself as unassuming and pretentious on the inside. In addition, she said that she believed America to be so moralistic. In 2018, Wilson exited the show, to surprise of fans but she was not clear on other details. I did want to leave however I'm not permitted to reveal the reason why in a CBS This Morning interview in August 2018. Wilson is now focusing on the film industry. Wilson appeared in the horror thriller I Am the Pretty Thing Living in the House in 2016, and she played the cryptic PT Stella as the Sci-Fi romance How to Talk to Girls at Parties. In addition to adding more horror genre onto her film credits, she's set to be a part of the British adaptation to film to The Little Stranger a supernatural thriller which is based on the novel written by Sarah Waters. Wilson is the executive producer of the film.
